12 October 2026, Columbus Day

… embarked westward across uncharted waters and discovered the New World — bringing with him the rich traditions of Western civilization and paving the way to the birth of the American Nation less than three centuries later. Today, we honor his life of valor, adventure, and ingenuity. We cherish his memory and pledge to safeguard his story. Above all, we remember with gratitude that the triumph of freedom and the glory of our Republic are the fruits of his faith and unrelenting devotion.

In August of 1492, Columbus departed the shores of Spain to chart a new trade route to Asia. With his crew of about 90 men aboard the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa María, for more than 2 grueling months, he pressed onward across the vast and unforgiving Atlantic Ocean — braving violent storms and treacherous waters. Through every trial, Columbus never wavered, holding his crew to the mission when most others would have turned back.

When Columbus and his crew made landfall on the islands of the present-day Bahamas, they first believed they had reached the shores of Asia. Instead, their voyage redrew the map of human possibility and opened a new chapter in the history of exploration. They unleashed a bold new age of discovery that expanded the horizons of knowledge, carried the splendors of the Western world across an ocean, and set in motion the forces that would culminate in the miracle of July 4, 1776. When they arrived, as a sign of devotion to God and respect to Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, Columbus raised a mighty cross in the newly discovered land as a sign that “Your Highnesses hold this land for your own, but chiefly as a sign of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ever since, this spirit of adventure has coursed through the veins of generations of patriots — from the brave settlers who established the first colonial foothold at Jamestown to the daring pioneers who pushed westward and tamed the frontier.

Today, we reaffirm that Christopher Columbus is a legend whose vision, fortitude, and perseverance unleashed a dynamic of history that led to the creation of the greatest, freest, and most just Nation in history. We are forever indebted to his courageous voyage, and we will never allow his legacy to be erased by radical extremists. For this reason, earlier this year, I was proud to install a statue of Christopher Columbus on the White House grounds — an exact replica of the statue that stood for more than three decades in Baltimore, Maryland, from its dedication by President Ronald Reagan in October 1984 until rioters tore it down and threw it into Baltimore Harbor on July 4, 2020. Now placed at the White House, this magnificent monument stands as a testament to the resilient legacy of one of history’s greatest heroes.

Columbus Day also holds special significance for our incredible Italian-American citizens. Like Columbus, they have embodied a steadfast love of country and faith in God, and they continue to strengthen our communities and propel our country to even greater heights.

In 1892, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Columbus’ epic voyage, Pope Leo XIII published an encyclical hailing “the greatness of his mind and heart,” which “can be compared to but few in the history of humanity.” The Pope continued: Columbus “looked for a something greater and higher than did these others.” Today, as we celebrate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the New World, we honor his unrivaled greatness. We embrace our duty to prove worthy of the inheritance he left us, to match his courage with our own, and to never abandon, forsake, or forget the beauty of our faith, the glories of our culture, and the stories of our heroes.

In commemoration of Christopher Columbus’ historic voyage, the Congress, by joint resolution of April 30, 1934, and modified in 1968 (36 U.S.C. 107), as amended, has requested the President proclaim the second Monday of October of each year as “Columbus Day.”

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim October 12, 2026, as Columbus Day. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. I also direct that the flag of the United States be displayed on all public buildings on the appointed day in honor of the great Christopher Columbus and all who have contributed to building our Nation.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of October, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fifty-first.

DONALD J. TRUMP

Barbara Boyd, 7 October 2026

Barbara Boyd opens with Sunday's first round in Brazil, where Flávio Bolsonaro took 47.03% to President Lula da Silva's 45.16%, a result London's Guardian called a shock, ahead of the October 25 runoff. She traces the battle for Brazil: Jair Bolsonaro's narrow defeat in 2022, the January 8, 2023 riots in Brasília, his 2025 conviction in a case overseen by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, Secretary of State Marco Rubio's response, and the Bolsonaro family's gains in Sunday's vote, set against the nationalist wins across Latin America that she ties to the administration's revival of the Monroe Doctrine and the shutdown of USAID. She also looks at China's place as Brazil's biggest customer and at who owns Petrobras. The episode then turns to Sparrows Point in Baltimore County, Maryland, once the world's largest steel mill, where President Trump launched Anduril's $3.7 billion Arsenal-2 shipyard on Tuesday, building components for the Navy's Virginia-class submarines with 3,100 permanent jobs. It closes with Mike Benz, speaking with Benny Johnson, on why financier cartels profit when the state runs the economy, from Big Pharma to climate finance, and Chamath Palihapitiya on why Barack Obama is pushing Democrats toward government regulation of AI.

A Camp David-Style Presidential Retreat for All Future Presidents

… could possibly get."

"It's only about two minutes away from the airport. So they literally would be at that site and they could spend the weekend there, like a retreat, like sort of a Camp David retreat."

"And they asked if I'd be willing to do it, and I said I would be. This wouldn't be for me. This would be for all FUTURE presidents."

"You don't have houses with people hiding behind windows. You don't have high buildings looming over it."

Punishing the Amish Community Because Their Children Are Unvaccinated

It is outrageous that the state of NY is punishing the Amish community because their children are unvaccinated. They are using money as a weapon, trying to fine these communities into compliance. This is a blatant violation of the legal principle of “informed consent” which guarantees individuals the right to make informed decisions about medical interventions, particularly vaccines, without coercion or misinformation. Without this protection, you can be forced into anything by those in power, just like the Nazis did in WWII.

We Will Not Stop

…Marc Eliar falsely accused me of saying @howardlutnick should “seize the voting machines”. No. I didn’t. I’ve never said that. I don’t think that. I don’t even know what that means in real life.

I said, truthfully the following:

1. The Commerce Secretary has certain authority to act in the election infrastructure arena because our damn voting systems we use in every state in America are manufactured in whole or in part in CHINA- a foreign adversary as so defined in FEDERAL law.

2. Pres Trump invoked the National Emergency Act of 1976 on May 15, 2019 to order the Commerce Dept to promulgate regulations to oversee and mandate protection against vulnerabilities, threats, and risks associated with the use of Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) - which includes electronic voting systems. Those are the ICTS regulations.

3. People demanding that @realDonaldTrump declare a national emergency don’t realize he already did that. The ICTS regulations resulting from that declaration on May 15, 2019 were finalized by the Biden Administration and became law in February 2024.

4. Secretary Lutnick has all the legal authority already he needs to MANDATE to states actions to ensure the electronic voting systems are not accessed or manipulated by bad actors. He has a duty to take those actions.

5. What actions so far?
- Do what the GA State Board of Elections has requested and require installation of the software that closes the 9 vulnerabilities identified by Dr Halderman and CISA in 2022. - mandate the manual hand count verification of ballots recommended by DHS.

Do you see anything in this that comes anywhere close to suggesting the “seizure” of voting machines? I don’t.

But. Marc Eliar makes his money lying. He’s been sanctioned by at least one court for making false statements to the Court. I will find and post that order.

Marc Eliar hates the idea that some of us are on to the election corruption he has promoted for more than a decade.

Bring it on, Eliar. We are sick of your arrogant disregard of the wishes of the vast majority of Americans who want honest elections that accurately reflect the will of the people.

News flash for Marc Eliar:

We. Are. Not. Stopping.
