Limited hangout? Of course. Whatever we know and what we will find out in the future will just be part of the whole.
Fauci's power was of an unusual sort. He was not the Covid Czar. He was one of many members of a commission. He took it upon himself to be the spokesman for the whole of everything because 1) he was covering up his role in creating the virus, and 2) he believed he had awesome media skills. So it is true that his power was largely informal but real in our fame/media-soaked world.
Thus did he have de facto totalitarian powers with zero accountability. The effect of what he did dramatically altered the life of the nation, effectively trampling this nation's laws and all liberty. The accountability is now, not with justice as such but with total humiliation.
