World War II Memorial Fountains, 4 June 2026

… and night. A powerful tribute to the heroes of World War II and a must-see destination in the nation’s capital.

The World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., is one of the nation’s most iconic landmarks, honoring the service and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation. Its beautiful fountains typically operate seasonally from March through December and remain open 24 hours a day during that period. Following an extensive lighting and mechanical system renovation, the memorial reopened in May 2026, just in time for Memorial Day weekend, with its fountains once again flowing around the clock. During the winter months, the fountains are turned off to protect them from freezing temperatures, but for most of the year they provide a breathtaking display of water, light, and remembrance in the heart of the nation’s capital. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ
