Former CIA Director John Brennan , 11 May 2026

… professionals in the law enforcement environment, Department of Justice, as well as the CIA and other places, the ones who are refusing to follow politically motivated prosecutions, those who are refusing to support any type of political activities on the part of the Trump administration that are inconsistent with the authorities, responsibilities of the intelligence community, law enforcement community, and Department of Justice. So we have to rely on these individuals to stand up to their professional responsibilities, and also to the courts, to the judges, to those judges who in fact took an oath of allegiance to the law, not to a political party, not to a person. And I'd like to think that there are still some members of Congress, certainly, I'm looking for the Republicans who at one point had spoken out against Donald Trump, who had spoken in support of the law, but they seem to have just totally caved. And I think, as has been said, what has happened to our institutions is really going to have long-standing damage to these institutions, to our system of justice.” —John Brennan
