CNN’s Jonah Goldberg Retracts Statement After Misleading Voters with Erroneous ‘Execution’ Remark on Trump’s Cheney Comments https://t.co/h34zEQTkEP pic.twitter.com/NVXdatAQ9y

… of previous statements Trump made about shooting protestors and having generals “executed.” Still, I was wrong to say he was calling for a firing squad execution. After I said that, my co-panelist, Brad Todd made the case that I was wrong. Brad was right and, again, I was wrong. Trump was making – albeit in his customary fashion – a different argument about Cheney’s alleged foreign policy views and the use of force. I let my disgust at Trump’s comments get the better of me as this was the first time I’d heard them.I need to make a statement.

This morning on CNN I referred to Trump’s “rifles” quote as him advocating a “firing squad” for Liz Cheney. I was reacting in haste to what were objectively appalling and irresponsible comments that had been framed in the set-up piece in the context…
In fact, at the end of the program, having thought about it, I said as much (though I could have been clearer). A fact that has been left out in a lot of the criticism of me since this morning. In other words, I voluntarily conceded the point, unprompted, before any of this subsequent criticism came my way. (You can find it around the 2:20 mark in the video below).
I regret the initial comment because it was inaccurate and contributed to the kind of overheated environment Trump thrives on.
Trump’s words were bad enough.
But it’s worth noting that a lot of the criticism about my inaccuracy is itself somewhat inaccurate, or at least incomplete, given my correction.

The rationalization from @JonahDispatch here for why he lied about Trump’s Cheney comments is no different than the rapist who blames his victim for wearing a short skirt. The victim was asking for it, you see.
Goldberg has no agency and nothing is ever his fault. He’s just a poor, fat NPC blob programmed to gobble up everything CNN shoves down his filthy gullet.
He’s only in the news business. You can’t expect him to watch a 30-second video clip or read a whole paragraph of text before barfing out the first stupid thought that comes to him. He’s a journo, not a miracle worker!
Mind you, this is *his* rationale for why he chose to eat a heaping bowl of excrement on live television today. Donald Trump made him do that. Don’t you see?? “Things got a little out of hand. It’s just this war and that lying SOB Trump!”
This is the kind of intellect we’re dealing with here. And remember: this also isn’t the first time he blatantly lied this week. He also lied about J.D. Vance’s response to the first Trump assassination attempt in Butler and unintentionally projected onto him Goldberg’s own impotence and cowardice.
But the thing to really know about Goldberg is that nothing on earth enrages him more than being called out by a woman who’s smarter and more successful than he is. That explains the 160-proof bile he spewed at @MZHemingway . That explains his rage. He can’t contain the bitter envy anymore. He’s a joke, and she’s beloved, and crapping your pants while stepping on a rake for the whole world to see is bad enough without the person you hate more than anything showing up to point out what a sad moron you’ve become.
And it also explains why no sane person should ever pay a single second attention to anything he says ever again. The man is a joke, and jokes are meant to be laughed at.
Meanwhile …
BREAKING: Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) is now INVESTIGATING Trump over his comments about Liz Cheney. She says he can be charged with a misdemeanor and/or a felony.

This is all based on the Left purposely misrepresenting Trump’s words. Unreal. pic.twitter.com/T5ZurNApl0
