Georgia law does not permit fundraising during the annual 3 month legislative session for any members of the General Assembly.

However, a leadership committee permits fund raising year round with 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲.

Three months after Kemp signed the leadership committee legislation into law, he formed his own leadership committee called 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 and began raising large amounts of money.

Every cycle, @BrianKempGA commits to help with the re-election the Republican legislators in the GA House and GA Senate…

Kemp then fills their campaign coffers with the money he has raised in his leadership committee.

𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔.

Almost always, Republican reps and senators are re-elected and then wash, rinse, repeat.

Just look at the last time a Republican incumbent was defeated in a primary or general election… 𝐀𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐀 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐞.

And it is important to remember who controls elections in GA and who controls the machines?

Republicans!

𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐀 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐀 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞.

Yet, no significant election reform has been passed in 3 legislative cycles to secure Georgia’s elections.

People across Georgia are mad as hell and have been applying pressure to their reps and senators for 3+ years now, but 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐬.

And even though more and more people are engaging and pressuring those under the Gold Dome, they absolutely refuse to take action.

Yet, every cycle they are re-elected using the money from Governor Brian Kemp and his Georgians Leadership First Committee.

This should outrage every Georgian, Republican and Democrat.

But this entire thread 🧵should outrage every American, regardless of political affiliation, because we all know 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐚.
